Rules

Team Captain

The team captain is the sole representative of the team and the point of contact for the organizer, the referees, and the persons responsible for the organization and execution of the event. Each team captain must report his/her team to the regatta management no later than 30 minutes before the first race.

Team Composition

Each team consists of a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 20 paddlers (men and women), a drummer, and substitutes (a maximum of 25 people in total). A team without a drummer will not be admitted to the race. At least 4 paddling women must participate in the race. The right to adjust this rule is expressly reserved.

Boats and Equipment

Boats including complete equipment and experienced coxswains will be provided by the organizer for the races (own coxswains are possible upon agreement). The use of own dragon boat paddles, which comply with the IDBF Norm 202a, is permitted. Race Rules

During the race, no aids to timing are permitted except for the voice of the drummer/paddler. Any aids and other equipment that the team wishes to take on board require the express permission of the race management. The race distance is 250 m.

Start

The start will be at the Friedensbrücke. Due to adverse circumstances (e.g. current or wind), it is up to the starter, in coordination with the race management, to carry out a quick start. This will be announced to the teams in each case by the command “Quick start”. The starting signal will be shortened to “Attention” + “Go” in this case.

Starting Signal

“Are you ready!” - If the team has technical problems, the drummer and/or coxswain can request a start abort by waving with both arms and making eye contact with the starter. The starter decides whether the start will be aborted. “Attention!” - All paddlers go into the starting position, paddle blade is above the water surface! (Flowing waters, equal opportunities!) “Go!” - Off you go! Paddling is now allowed.

Penalties

A false start will result in a warning. A second warning will result in a point deduction. A third warning will result in the team being disqualified. A warning is valid for the rest of the regatta.

Drumming

The drummer must start drumming no later than 30 m after the start and continue until the finish.

Finishing

Each boat must moor again at the jetty immediately after the race with the complete crew. The race is not finished until the entire team has disembarked in the marshalling area.

Irregularities

In case of irregularities during the race, of any kind, the race management will decide on the classification of the race or a possible restart. In principle, each race will be finished, as long as there is no danger to other participants. Unsporting Conduct

In case of a violation of the rules or unsportsmanlike conduct, an individual or the entire team can be given a warning or a start ban by the race management. 2 warnings during the entire regatta will result in a point deduction, 3 warnings during the entire regatta will automatically lead to disqualification.

Dead Heat

In the event of a dead heat, the placing can be determined by drawing lots.

Protests

Protests against a decision must be submitted to the race management no later than 15 minutes after the announcement of the official result. The jury will decide on the protest.

Interruption by DLRG or Water Police

If the DLRG or water police cross the regatta course with blue lights, the race must be stopped immediately.

Changes to the Rules

Should these rules be changed for compelling reasons, the registered teams will be sent the new rules by e-mail in good time.

Note for all Teams

There are changing tents for the participating teams on the site. These tents are not guarded. Please do not leave any valuables in the tents. We ask you to hand over your valuables to an accompanying person of your team for safekeeping and to take good care of your belongings. The organizer assumes no liability for objects on the regatta site.

Own Tents

Own tents may only be erected after prior registration. The regulations (no pegs, no damage to trees…) must be observed. Company advertising on the tents is only permitted if the advertising package has been booked. The storage areas must be left clean.

We count on your understanding!
